Settling Down
Wednesday, November 21, 2007 · 32 Comments
Now that I’ve got Streamyx connected again, I’ve no reason to stay away anymore. I thought I could gradually fade away from blogsphere, but nope, can’t seem to do that.
Many of you already know that I’ve been terribly busy with my house and renovations recently. In fact the people in my life lately have been Ah Chung, Ah Loong, Ah Seng, Ah Mun, Ah Wah and Ah Chuen. I kid you not…they are the plumber, electrician, painter, roofer, floor polisher and the odd-job guy.
We’ve moved in for more than a month now, and there are still workers coming in and out of my house. One word of advice to those who are moving house….DO NOT MOVE IN UNTIL ALL THE WORK ARE 100% COMPLETE. Don’t even settle for 99.9% !! That 1% of unfinished work will screw up your schedue and tie you down, plus it will make you clean your house over and over again. Well, that’s the lesson that I’ve learnt anyway. Serves me right for not listening to my mum, but then again, time was a crucial factor.
Even as I’m typing now, these 2 guys are lacquering my wooden floor. Hopefully it will all be done today. And then, I’ve got to make an appointment with the alarm guy. Sien!!!

A case about Osteo….
Saturday, August 11, 2007 · 54 Comments
“Patellar maltracking. Medial plica noted and there is some swelling of cartilage at the medial facet of the patella with subtle subchondral signal changes. Peripheral signal abnormality is seen in the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. The medial meniscus is intact. The cruciate and collateral ligaments are intact.”
Doesn’t sound like Engrish hor? When I first read it, I think I only understood about 10 words.
Well, in a nutshell, that’s the condition of my left knee. And right knee.
A few months ago, I was experiencing a lot of discomfort and stiffness in both my knees. It was much worse after my weekly badminton games. Thinking that I possibly strained them by pushing myself too hard, I ignored the symptoms. Until I couldn’t even bend my legs. It was just too painful. Squatting was excruciating. When I walk, my knees make a click-clack sound. Climbing up and down the stairs was a chore. They even ached in the middle of the night when I was asleep. Sitting at the computer with my legs crossed was a definite no-no, it hurt when I had to straighten my legs. Thoughts of athritis and rheumatism came to mind. Not that I know exactly what they meant. “Foong-sup“…. mum has it, grandma had it. It’s common mah, to have athritis when age catches up, right anot?
Reluctantly, I went for a check-up and was advised to do an X-ray plus an MRI. And the above ‘non-Engrish’ paragraph is the MRI report. Which basically means that my knees look like this….
King’s Wife’s translation : The knee caps are off its ’sockets’ causing much friction on one side. The cartilage has also thinned due to wear and tear. Surface tears are likely. This condition is known as osteoarthritis. In addition, there is this plicae thingy, which I understand to be some thickened tissue which has become irritated and inflammed, thus causing additional abrasion. At this point, some people opt for an operation to rectify the problem. But I’m not considering that just yet. That will be my absolutely last resort.
I was recommended to attend some physiotherapy sessions, and I went faithfully. 8 sessions. And they really helped. The pain has reduced significantly. But I have to be diligent and continue those exercises on my own. The bottom line is… I have to exercise to maintain the strength of my leg muscles and stability of the knees. And in the meantime, popping 1500gms of Glucosamine daily. Sigh….
So I was kinda right about arthritis. I only missed out the word ‘osteo’.

What’s hot, what’s not
Monday, July 16, 2007 · 44 Comments

This is my personal opinion but I thought Transformers was quite awesome. Sorry Helen, I can’t find a better word to describe it.
I enjoyed it so much that I watched it a second time. And it was still as good.
BUT…
This, was a bit disappointing. It kind of dragged on and there was nothing much in the plot.

After hearing good reviews about this place, I finally went there for lunch today. Loved it! Will definitely go again.

And coming soon…hopefully her concert will be hot! Anyone else going?

Thank you too to Angel, Sengkor, Winn, Nyonyapenang, Cocka and Aben for all your lovely pressies, and to Laundryamah for baking the rich, scrumptious chocolate cake.
There’ll be no postings here for a while more. But don’t worry….Being the kpc that I am, I’ll still come around to yours.

Relieved and Eat Bak Chang

Thank you all for sharing in my predicament. Actually hor, it’s not so serious-serious like it sounded in the post. In fact, you may even laugh if you knew what I was referring to. Nothing to do with friendship, but still it required me to put on a thick skin, be direct and say No. I felt kinda bad that one party was let down, but hey, that’s life. It’s somewhat a relief, and now I can really concentrate on the task at hand. And I’m pretty excited!!!

It’s Chung Festival tomorrow. For the past 8 years without fail, my dear neighbour has been giving me these…..

All home-made of course, and no boric acid here for sure.
Thank you Mrs P, and Happy Chung Festival to everyone!

I am faced with 2 choices.
Both are good.
But I have to turn one down and say No.
I dread to be in this position.

Sweet Angel
Wednesday, June 6, 2007 · 30 Comments
I first met this blogger during a joint birthday celebration last year. On June 23rd.
My first impression of her….one word…….QUIET. Very.
Now, almost a year later, after numerous makan-makan and jalan-jalan sessions, many emails, a handful of birthday celebrations, the occasional online chatting, 2 postcards, some lovely souvenirs…
I’m glad to say she is not only a fellow blogger, she is my friend.
Here’s to you Angel, on your special day
My sincere best wishes to you,
May your heart be filled with cheer,
And your life be surrounded by love always!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU !!!

Bills and more bills
Thursday, May 31, 2007 · 26 Comments
School holidays are normally an expensive affair. No school, no tuition, no activities. Means the girls are bored shitless at home. It’s been like this everyday….”Mom, let’s go to 1U” or “What are we having for lunch? Let’s go out.”
And so far this week, there has been unexpected bills to pay as well. ** $$ flying out the door**
Everything seems to be breaking down on me. All at the same time.
- 2 days ago, the plumber had to fix the water inlet part for my WC.
- Yesterday, the washing machine konked out. The repair guy just came and left.
- Last week, there was an electricity cut. But only in my house. The TNB people came, only to tell me that the entire fuse box needs to be replaced. The electrician spent 2hours doing that this morning.
What next? Fridge? Air-con? TV?
Ok, I need to go out now to have a cuppa. And looking forward to a good meal tonight. Crabs to be precise.
